At the US Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) within Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Jacobs Technology employees, along with our teammate companies Caelum, SOI, eLe, and Trident ensure the weapons, vehicles, and equipment that the war fighter depends on are safe, effective and reliable.

Job Description:

Assists in performing technical work for, and test and evaluation of, Warfighter Directorate projects, test items, and related material, documentation, training, instrumentation, and methodologies. Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations. Follows standard work methods on recurring assignments, but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments; technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may also be reviewed in progress. May assist Test Officer/engineer with the coordination, resourcing, and execution of subsections of tests under the direction of higher-level personnel. May participate with Test Officers in scoring conferences, teleconferences, symposiums, and meetings where data are presented or reviewed. Assists higher-level personnel with testing associated with transportability, construction and material- handling equipment, tactical bridging, watercraft, petroleum and water systems, power generation and distribution systems, tactical hard and soft shelters, sensors and detection systems, foreign military items, Soldier protection and individual equipment, force protection and sustainment systems. Drives/operates support vehicles, test items, and related equipment /instrumentation as needed for functional and performance data, logistics, and related tasks; and performs appropriate operator level PMCS. Rigs systems and equipment for crane and helicopter lift, restraint in or aboard commercial and military cargo carriers, and tensile proof loading; operates overhead crane; transports various loads and systems; operates construction equipment, various hand and power tools, and material-handling equipment; and supports general facility setup and movement/configuration of test items and facility equipment. May service, repair/adjust, modify, or calibrate instruments or equipment. Adjusts and operates equipment, and records test data, pointing out and documenting deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors. Extracts, documents, and reports various forms of test and engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources; processes the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry; presents the data in prescribed form. Assists in writing and developing Test Plan, Risk Assessment, Safety Release/Confirmation, test record, and Final Report documentation. Maintains and organizes work areas and vehicle bays. May participate in test readiness reviews. Sets up meetings with visitors and escorts them to test sites, secures clearances, and maintains verbal and written communications with multiple levels within and outside of the organization.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Qualifications:

3 yr. of applicable experience; or at least 60 credit hours or an Associate’s Degree and 1 yr. of applicable experience; or 30 credit hours and 2 yr. of applicable experience; or completion of a formal training program and 1 yr. of applicable experience.

Must possess basic computer skills.

Twenty-percent must possess a CDL A.

Essential Functions Form:

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

May require sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time (up to 50%). The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 40%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 50%).

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment may be inside or outside depending on the task. The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold extreme temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 50%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 50%). Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts. Work may require being assigned to shift work (up to 5%).

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS

Conducts test and evaluations using computers, Government furnished equipment and commercial off the shelf items for potential procurement for armed services. Uses a variety of standard references, guides, and precedents to obtain needed information. Work may require being around moving machinery and vehicles. Work may require driving military vehicles

CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE

Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice. Travel may be required (up to 70%).

OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to organize communications with various unit command levels to secure optimal soldier participation in testing. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. May be subject to hearing tests and other physicals or exams if required or designated by the COR. May be subject to exposure to noise, vibration, temperature extremes, lead, high voltage, petroleum, oil, lubricants, dusts, and solvents. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
