Job Description

The ideal candidate is a seasoned BSA/AML and Sanctions executive with a proven ability to provide leadership and guidance to the line of business and functional compliance officers. The incumbent must possess subject matter expertise, organizational capability and leadership ability to develop and maintain a program of standards, processes, issue identification and remediation processes to ensure an effective program to maintain acceptable compliance levels across SunTrust. This individual MUST be able to effectively coalesce necessary information into a clear, concise format to be communicated to senior leadership across the bank. They must also be able to clearly support and defend their analysis and findings, in order to ensure AML/BSA standards are clearly applied across the entire organization. Skills and Knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and structure specifically OFAC, KYC, CIP, SAR, CTP, and all other specific BSA/AML and Sanctions activities, but is not limited to:Risk Assessments including Customer Acceptance & Maintenance Programs Large Currency Monitoring & Currency Transaction Report Filing Programs Sanctions Programs Information Sharing (recordkeeping & retention programs) Independent Testing & Training Management & Board Reporting Ability to appropriately balance BSA/AML and Sanctions risk with business opportunities and reach effective solutions after analyzing issues and developing appropriate solutions involving complex matters Ability to operate in a matrix environment and influence outcomes outside of direct control Ability and experience to design strategic plans to proactively identify regulatory risks and control weaknesses; experience developing broad BSA/AML and Sanctions business programs Possess sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and a flexible and creative problem solver Professional and personal competencies required for the position include: Effective Communication – Communicates and presents in a clear and compelling manner able to articulate complex concepts, solutions and recommendations to senior management, board members, and regulatory representatives taking into account the appropriate perspectives and sensitivities of the targeted audiences. Working collaboratively with Senior Management at corporate and within the business units and using relationships strategically to accomplish objectives.
