Job Description Role will support both SunTrust’s Investor Relations and Corporate M&A initiatives with a focus on communicating SunTrust’s strategy and financial position to the investment community. This role will partner with Accounting, Legal, and Business Units to develop company messaging and subsequently ensure accuracy in external context. From an M&A perspective, the role will analyze and execute acquisitions, divestitures and strategic investments for SunTrust. Principal Investor Relations Responsibilities

  • Partner with Accounting, Legal, and Business Units to develop company messaging and subsequently ensure accuracy in external content
  • Maintain CRM database to help effectively target investors and provide investor information to executive management
  • Execute ad-hoc financial and peer analyses to help frame key issues
  • Assist in creating Annual Report content
  • Oversee relationships with key partners and vendors including investor relations website host, stock transfer agent, New York Stock Exchange, and surveillance vendor Principal M&A responsibilities

  • Develop presentations, financial models and valuation analyses to analyze and request internal approval of M&A opportunities

  • Coordinate and perform due diligence on potential targets
  • Assist in the creation of deal documentation, including non-disclosure agreements, term sheets, bid letters and purchase agreements
  • Partner with business and functional teammates, including Legal, Accounting and Tax, to structure transactions
  • Research industry and peer developments Qualifications


  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail;
  • Critical thinking skill set required;
  • Analytical mind-set;
  • Ability to develop communications strategy to educate and influence key stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating and contributing to a high performing team on multiple projects;
  • Aptitude for identifying and solving issues;
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • 2-4 years analyst experience in a banking or finance-related position; 2 years financial modeling experience Preferred:

  • Knowledge of accounting/corporate finance

  • 2-4 years of experience in capital markets (e.g. M&A, equity research, debt or equity capital markets); Demonstrated experience driving corporate messaging with Wall Street audience
