Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM is seeking an experienced Data and AI Technical Sales Specialist who will be a WW technical sales leader for IBM Watson Assistant and Watson Discovery and also a consultant/trusted advisor to our clients and IBMers alike. This individual will work with our Data & AI Technical Sales teams around the globe to help drive revenue for our Data & AI Solutions portfolio.

You will learn the client's business requirements, technical requirements and/or competitive landscape and apply your technical knowledge and experience to bring new solutions to your aligned clients. You will also enable, mentor and assist Data &AI Technical professionals around the globe to drive IBM Data &AI Solutions pipeline and revenue with specific focus on IBM Watson Assistant and Watson Discovery. Candidates with Telephony integration skills would be highly valued and experience with NICE, Genesys or similar is a plus. We are seeking individuals interested in making an impact in selling IBM's Data & AI portfolio to maintain and grow existing revenue streams and relationships. You must be self-motivated, driven to win sales opportunities, and ready to interact daily with customers, colleagues, and business partners.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Actively develop and progress opportunities within the Data & AI and Cloud Pack for Data Platform Solutions working with the IBM Sales teams.

  • Provide strategic direction to Executive decision-makers related to their Information Architecture to support business transformation and their journey to AI.

  • Deliver solution workshops, product demonstrations, technical education, and Proof of Concepts while articulating business value for our Data & AI solutions.

  • Enable, support and work with the Business Partner ecosystem.

  • Develop re-usable industry-specific assets and demonstrations.

  • Collaborate with other internal IBM teams to drive unmatched customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain an understanding of the clients industry, including industry trends, industry business processes.

  • Collaborate with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions.

  • Support customer technical escalations, on-site health checks, best practice sharing, designing solutions; and answer technical questions throughout the sales process in order to. identify/progress/close sales and develop customer relationships.


  • Demonstrated level of business acumen as it applies to the client's business

  • Skilled in consultative selling, with an understanding of the client's needs and IBM capabilities

  • Commercially minded and capable of supporting end-to-end sales engagements with the ability to think, plan and act strategically

  • Extensive networking and interpersonal skills in complex environments

  • Self-starter with eagerness to seek and build new skills

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3+ years of successful pre-sales, post-sales, technical consulting or experience in the Data & AI space

  • Experience working in a cross-functional sales environment

  • Experience working with customers on building/delivering advanced analytics applications

  • Proven demonstrated skill and hands-on experience with a breadth of Data & AI technologies

  • A passion for delivering creative solutions that help customers solve key business issues through the use of advanced analytics

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Ability to understand business problems, articulate a corresponding solution based on IBM software, build a value proposition, and establish a compelling reason to act

  • In-depth Cloud Platform knowledge in one of the following, a plus: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform/Anthos, Amazon/AWS.

  • Hands on technical skills knowledge and experience with RedHat OpenShift.

  • Implementation/Consulting/Architecture/Data Governance experience.
