The coordinated movement of milk from farm to customer in a timely, orderly and efficient manner is at the heart of our business. In order to be most effective this process starts with and is supported by individuals that must be as comfortable with making projections and creating a plan from those projections as they are with communicating those plans to customers, DFA transportation locations and contract haulers. Furthermore, these individuals play a crucial role in helping each of these entities deal with unpredictable changes that are encountered on-farm, in transit or at customer locations during the execution of those plans. This position will provide support and backup to the Logistics Supervisor in their daily job responsibilities and by working on special projects as assigned by the Logistics Supervisor or the Member Services Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Track local milk production, availability and individual farm eligibility in order to meet customer orders, their specific quality specifications and delivery requirements such as type of equipment, and receiving hours.

  • Build Master Schedule for the week and provide DFA transportation locations and contract haulers with plan including anticipated shortages or overages allowing for the timely planning necessary to move milk to meet customers' needs efficiently and at greatest return for DFA members.

  • Oversee the execution of the weekly plan and sets or reevaluates pick-up and delivery priorities depending on changing needs of DFA member farms and customers. Keeps members, customers, haulers and management informed of critical changes.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with customer personnel at the plant level and with their operations to ensure optimal service. Constantly look for ways to provide cost effective, quality service to customers.

  • Learn and become proficient in using important DFA computer programs necessary for daily operations such as the Dispatch Program, Business Intelligence, and Excel files used for planning and tracking.

  • Directly responsible to ensure member milk is qualified as required by the Federal Milk Marketing Order System to ensure maximum return to DFA members.

  • Aid in the daily reconciliation of pickups and receipts with customers and members.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for nights and weekends.

  • Serve as an advisor to Lead Drivers as necessary.

Education and Experience

  • College Degree in associated field or at least 1 years' experience in logistics planning.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong computer skills preferably in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Basic understanding or desire to gain knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO), and other applicable regulations.

  • Previous exposure to SAP a plus

Compensation Details:

  • Hiring pay range: $60k - $75k
