Job Description

The GFOAS Associate position is responsible for assisting in the coordination and delivery of GFOAS services across the SunTrust PWM Reserve and GenSpring channels as well as SunTrust Wholesale. The primary responsibilities of the position will consist of handling all scheduling of the team including internal and external meetings and travel, managing the pipeline, tracking teammates family meetings and engagement level, providing support in building prospect proposals and preparing all contract documents. In addition, this position will create presentations, create new and update existing content and research competitive information.

The GFOAS Associate will report to a GFOAS Director or Managing Director. The Associate will work as part of the team, joining in all of the regular group calls and training. The Associate candidate must be a team player in the coordination and timely delivery of GFOAS services to prospects and clients, and must possess good problem solving skills. Although good teamwork is essential, the Associate candidate must also be able to work independently if teammates are unavailable. The Associate may, occasionally, meet with prospects and clients, although most contact is via telephone or email with some travel required.

The Associate candidate should have a basic understanding of general financial planning topics and be familiar with trust documents, partnership documents, and other basic wealth planning documents commonly utilized in income tax, estate and asset protection planning. In addition, the Associate should have a basic understanding of accounting principles and spreadsheet development.


Basic Qualifications: 5 or more years experience servicing high net worth clients and their families. Must have good technical skills to be able to access the appropriate systems to accomplish the needs of the client. Proven work experience in the following relevant areas; communication, presentation skills, analytical ability and detail orientation, as well as extracurricular team involvement.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in related field. Must be a team-player, as well as have an ability to work with an independent entrepreneurial work style. Requires excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a proven ability to problem solve. Excellent computer skills (MS Office) are mandatory, specifically must be able build advanced excel worksheets and create PowerPoint presentations. Must be able to learn and multi-task in a fast paced environment, using innovation in balancing and focusing on the highest priorities first each and every day to meet system deadlines. Certificate programs such as Certified Trust Financial Advisor (CTFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) a plus or employee should be striving to achieve. Prior financial background recommended (i.e. accounting, financial statements, budgets, etc.).
