TEKsystems Data Scientist in Houston, Texas
Our customer, a small company and creator of a data driven digital platform product that connects small business owners with the resources the need to help grow and scale their companies, is looking for a Data Scientist to build tools and products using Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) that empower small business owners and enable increased economic mobility. This individual will use data, machine learning, and AI to augment human intelligence and cognition for optimal decision-making. In this role, you’ll utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets. Develop data-driven solutions to difficult business challenges. Conduct analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations. You will inform and influence decisions using data and research, using analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets. You will turn your learning into narratives that support the business, product development and researchers from other areas including user research and marketing research. You will work with 2 other Data Scientists on the team and will report in to the Director of Data Science. Role and Responsibilities: Here’s what you’ll be working on day-to-day, but as a nimble organization that puts our small business community at the forefront, flexibility is key, and other responsibilities may arise. • Apply various data science methods to understanding the most important aspects of our product, users, and business • Transform data into insights that can be utilized by people without a programming or data science background . • Evangelizing evidence-based decision making by partnering with key decision makers (including senior -level and executive management) and driving democratized accessibility of data and insights • Design and build data set processes for modeling, data mining, and production purposes • Determine new ways to improve data quality and predictive capabilities • Perform and interpret data studies and product experiments concerning new data sources or new uses for existing data sources • Develop prototypes, proof of concepts, algorithms, predictive models, and custom analysis • Provide research on topics including Hello Alice's business model and recommendation techniques • Deliver reports and insights on data findings that are understandable to non-data scientists. Required Skills and Experiences: 6 Months to 2 years of professional industry experience doing quantitative analysis. Math/Statistics • Basic knowledge of statistics: Linear Regression; Logistic Regression; Supervised Machine Learning; Time Series Forecasting) • Knowledge of building statistical, machine learning, NLP, and AI models Databases and Data Preparation • Data manipulation and data preparation • Relational databases & data warehouses - writing SQL scripts • Using Data To Generate Insights (e.g. creating machine learning models, creating visualizations of the data, creating dashboards) Tools and Programming Languages • Data Visualization tools: Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, Mode Analytics, Shiny, Google Sheets • Cloud databases: Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Microsoft Azure • R or Python (required) • SQL (required)
