The HR Generalist role provides different levels of support to our Operations leaders and employees within our Kitchener Transportation and Warehouse teams. Your responsibilities will include, but aren?t limited to: recruitment support, employee relations, WSIB claims management, and key employee engagement and recognition programs.

What you?ll do:

Your key accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Offering advice and guidance to leaders on legislative compliance and employee relations, including discipline procedures;

  • Providing recruitment support for our operations teams, which may include posting job openings, screening and interviewing candidates, and preparing job offers and new hire packages;

  • Facilitating the onboarding of new employees;

  • WSIB claims management for Kitchener Transportation and Warehouse, including safe return to work programs;

  • Supporting annual HR cyclical programs, such as performance review process, compensation planning, benefits enrollment, etc.;

  • Conducting exit interviews;

  • Facilitating corporate HR training programs;

  • Providing guidance on internal policies and procedures;

  • Facilitating employee recognition programs and other HR driven initiatives;

  • Creating and publishing the quarterly company newsletter;

  • Assisting with special projects, company events, and other activities as required.

    What we need:

  • A post-secondary education in a related discipline;

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or working toward this designation is preferred;

  • 3+ years' experience in an HR Generalist or comparable role;

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Ontario Employment Standards Act and all legislative requirements;

  • Thorough understanding of HR best practices, employee relations, labour relations, etc.;

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with leaders and employees;

  • Effective interpersonal skills along with proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion;

  • Demonstrated expertise with proven experience communicating sensitive messages, processes and procedures;

  • Ability to coach employees and leaders through difficult situations and supporting them through change;

  • A master juggler with excellent organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills;

  • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite.
