Job Information

RedHat Senior Technical Presales Engineer - Cloud/PaaS, United Kingdom in London, United Kingdom

Job summary

The Red Hat Certified Cloud Solutions Provider (CCSP) team is looking for a Senior Technical Presales Engineer to join us. In this role, you will develop and nurture relationships with key influencers and decision makers in our largest CCSPs and supporting distributors. You’ll become a trusted advisor, influencing and accelerating their adoption of our leading-edge portfolio of platform and cloud products and services as an integral part of their own Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) based services and solutions. These could encompass custom datacentres, hybrid and public clouds, and everything in between. You’ll therefore need to be able to quickly align appropriate areas of the Red Hat portfolio, effectively communicate their value-add, and progress sales opportunities from initial evaluation to technical win. You’ll collaborate closely with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) level Alliance Partner Managers and an extended team of Technical Presales, Partner, and Key Account Managers in-country, so you’ll need to be comfortable and effective in understanding and balancing the requirements of multiple stakeholders.

This is a field-based role and the remit is region-wide so, whilst we’d prefer your location to be in close proximity to our London or Farnborough offices, the successful applicant could potentially be based from any one of our offices in-region.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work in close collaboration with the Red Hat Alliance Partner Managers to define and agree CCSP strategy and delivery plans and priorities

  • Develop and nurture relationships with key influencers and decision makers from within the technical presales, solutions delivery, and product management areas of new and existing CCSPs

  • Analyze CCSP services offerings and identify and position products and services from Red Hat that will add business value, requiring the delivery of high-level presentations, discovery workshops, demos, and solutions definition

  • Facilitate CCSP evaluation of Red Hat candidate products and solutions by engaging the appropriate resources within Red Hat and the CCSP to progress from a ‘candidate’ solution to a technical win, whilst retaining ultimate ownership of the overall engagement, requiring the definition and delivery of reference architectures, proofs of concept (PoCs), and solutions validation

  • Jointly develop field-readiness plans for CCSP technical presales and delivery associates which effectively use Red Hat’s official training and certification assets and programs

  • Assist CCSPs to effectively take advantage of resources like the Red Hat Product Demo System or to implement in-house lab environments to support their training in, and evaluation of, Red Hat products and technologies

Required skills

  • Solid understanding of, and ability to articulate, current trends in the cloud provider market, including how customers are migrating to cloud providers, and the current pressures the cloud providers face

  • 3+ years of experience working at enterprise-account level for, or in conjunction with, a cloud services provider in a technical presales, implementation, or support role on datacentre virtualization, hybrid or cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) projects

  • Excellent working knowledge of Red Hat cloud products, or their open source equivalents, or competitive products like VMware vSphere/vCloud Suite, Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure IaaS/AzureStack, CloudFoundry, or Mirantis

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to adapt your messaging and content to various types and levels of technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly

  • Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders

  • Ability to work as part of a geographically distributed team, but also own your own when required

  • Fluent in English

  • Willing to travel up to 60% within EMEA

The following will be considered a plus:

  • Experience in training; identifying training needs and organizing programmatic training plans, for a partner ecosystem

  • 3+ years of practical experience in two or more of the following, or their community equivalent, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation or oVirt, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform or CoreOS, Kubernetes, or Linux Containers, Red Hat OpenStack or RDO, Red Hat CloudSuite or ManageIQ, or Red Hat Ceph or Ceph; experience with Red Hat Ansible Tower or Ansible is a big plus

  • Previous experience of microservices based architectures and a clear understanding of current trends in application modernization

  • Solid understanding and experience in enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF, Praxeme/EST, or similar

  • Solid understanding and experience in agile software development or services management methodologies and frameworks (e.g., SEMAT, SCRUM, ITIL)

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Red Hat OpenStack administration CL210/CL310, Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (EX300)
