What's this role all about?

As a night shift Inventory Control Specialist in our ED Department, you will be responsible for multiple aspects of inventory control required to maintain effective par-level replenishment process of medical and surgical supplies, equipment, paper, lab, respiratory and dietary supplies in the emergency department. Conducts inventory counts, puts supplies away in proper inventory locations, including bulk storage and bedside locations and maintains neat and orderly par-level stocking locations.

What will you be doing?

  • Performs inventory counts of medical and surgical supplies maintained in par-level locations. Accurately records quantities of products needed to restore supply levels to their designated maximum par-level.

  • Maintains all par-level locations in a neat and orderly fashion, ensuring that all supplies are stocked on the appropriate shelving in designated shelves with the supply labeling clearly visible. Ensures that no supplies are stored on floors or on top shelves that could obstruct fire sprinkler equipment. Removes supply overstock, empty supply boxes, and supply relat4ed trash from par-level locations. Reports any overstock problems to the Coordinator.

  • Transports supply carts containing supplies to the appropriate location and puts supplies away in designated locations. Verifies the completeness and accuracy of the order. Makes note of any discrepancies and reports to the Coordinator or Team Leader. Corrects discrepancies by removing overstocked items or by pulling correct or additional items from the Central Issues stock and delivering to appropriate par-level location.

  • Handles carts with care to ensure that no damage occurs to these items or hallway walls or doors. Ensures that all supplies are removed and put away using proper handling techniques and that no trash is ever mingled with clean supplies.

  • Responsible for ensuring that back ordered items are replenished to the par-level locations as stock arrives.

  • Organizes rooms and storeroom as assigned. Ensures that supplies re organized to correspond with shelf and bin locations.

  • Monitors supply utilization trends and recommends par-level changes to the Coordinator or Team Leader.

  • Inspects and rotates all supplies to ensure sterile packaging integrity and current expiration date. Develops familiarity with all types of packaging and supplies stocked on the par-level locations.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

  • Helps set up for bi yearly inventory.

Educational requirements:

  • High school education

What else are we looking for?

  • 2 years of inventory control experience, preferably in a health care setting.

  • Good command of the English language (speaking, reading, writing).

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to interact with professional and medical staff.

  • Knowledge of medical supplies and their use.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high volume “team” environment.

  • Or a comparable level of education and experience.

Physical Requirements (physical abilities essential to perform the job):

  • Able to stand or walk 75% of the time, push rolling carts and lift up to 75 pounds. Intermittent bending and stooping, close mental and visual attention.
