Weill Cornell Medical College Buying Operations Analyst in New York, New York

Position Summary

Manages and buys a vast portfolio of products and services as part of the overall supply chain for Weill Cornell Medicine.

Job Responsibilities

  • Buys, consolidates and integrates all commodities and services for WCM. Provides new campus training and written materials on buying and sourcing procedures.

  • Manages the growth of WCM purchasing. Responsible for vendor relationship/management. Ensures vendors are paid and that product shipments are not delayed

  • Expands contract negotiations and vendor operations integration. Executes procurement strategies and processes.

  • Administers a negotiation strategy that delivers against business objectives and achieves sustainable relationships with suppliers. Renegotiates, renews and discontinues supplier contracts as needed.

  • Leads internal departments in the development of specifications, assists by interpreting policy and procedures regarding procurement. Collaborates with legal team to draft contracts.

  • Manages relationships between the institution, vendors and the WCM community to resolve invoice issues as new contracted vendors with specific payments terms are onboarded.

  • Expands the use of SUA suppliers, recruits new vendors to the SUA program and manages relationships with current SUA vendors.

  • Implements supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions.

  • Stays abreast of market trends, changes in business practices and new or altered types of material entering the market as new recruits change buying needs and/or product lines.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree


Master’s Degree preferred.

Approximately 5 years of experience in Supply Chain/Purchasing.

Expert knowledge of SAP, SRM, SciQuest and Microsoft Office highly desired.

Extensive knowledge of WCM’s needs and medical vendor community.
