Ethos Veterinary Health Veterinary Assistant - Oncology in Orland Park, Illinois
Premier Veterinary Group in Orland Park is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Medical Oncology Department.
The primary responsibility is to triage and provide care for patients presenting to and hospitalized with our Medical Oncology. The successful candidate embodies our culture in treating every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets. This is a 40 hour per week position. Participation in some holiday coverage is required.

Provide extensive client education on Medical Oncology issues including but not limited to disease processes, drug side effects, medication, and triaging phone calls
Assist with obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates
Assist with utilization of different modalities of imaging for patient assessment including radiograph, ultrasound and CT scan
Assist in executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events
Provide comfort and nursing care for all patients

Skills and Experience:
General nursing care and treatment of patients
Assisting the veterinarian in procedures
Admitting and discharging patients
Client communication and education
High School education or equivalent
Several years? experience of related job experience preferred
Self-Motivator: Ability to work efficiently and effectively, proactive with approach
Communicator: Successful communication is essential with all clients and stakeholders, considers and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of different people in different situations
Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise. Understands linkages between department?s needs and the organization?s needs.
