Resp & Qualifications


Manages end-to-end oversight of strategic alliances. This individual will work to drive alignment across multiple matrix organizations within CareFirst, as well as the relationship management hub with external organizations of new and established alliances. The candidate is responsible for monitoring overall market results and facilitating a high degree of collaboration across the alliance partners.. Responsible for regular monitoring & reporting; actively addressing opportunities for improvement and proactively remediating anticipated risks. Partners with key leaders to help drive profitable membership growth.


  • Manages complex strategic alliances that span organizational boundaries, and have a significant enrollment and revenue impact to CareFirst Business. Identifies process improvement opportunities and takes action to implement enhancements to maximize outcomes and growth.

  • Serve as a liaison between CareFirst and its alliance partners representing the interests of our organization for a successful relationship. Directly support the work of establishing and setting up new alliances to work toward a successful launch

  • Responsible for effectively working with cross functional stakeholders who own specific functions related to an alliance (i.e. Underwriting, Proposals, Marketing, Accounting, Care Management, etc.) to establish requirements and guidelines associated with the partnership and continued success through duration of the contract Manages relationships with key stakeholders, including management and vendors.

  • Measures, evaluates and reports on alliance performance related to ROI, customer satisfaction, and other organizational metricsincluding but not limited to all goals for growth, quality, and profitability.

  • Guides stakeholders and leadership through key decisions and communicates and coordinates activities internally and across alliance partners, as well as manage risks and escalations across CareFirst enterprise.


Leads a team utilizing a matrix management system


Education Level : Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related field.

Experience : 8 years alliance management or partnership management experience OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

  • Master's Degree

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Ability to synthesize large complex data and analysis into clear, concise, executive level presentations that allow for rapid grasp of business problem or opportunity and understanding of feasible solutions.

  • Effective understanding of how functions integrate within the division and the strategic concept behind the corporate goals.

  • Ability to translate business needs as it relates to technology, systems, and vendor platforms.

  • Ability to identify and shepherd strategic opportunities that have a significant impact on the organization.

  • Ability to establish working relationships and influence/persuade across all levels of leadership including C-Suite.

  • Knowledge and discipline of Process Improvement.

  • Use of Microsoft Applications.

Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time. Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
