Osmose is currently seeking a Product Engineer who is primarily responsible for research, engineering and technical development for bringing new products to market while maintaining existing products. The Product Engineer ensures that the necessary internal resources, tools and processes exist to support and grow the product and/or service.

Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in the area of wood protection and supplemental wood preservation that help establish and maintain Osmose’s leadership in the electric and telecom utility industry.

  • Assist with the development of new products, services and solutions (both enhancements to existing products as well as development of new products and services) for protection and mitigation of wood and other material types.

  • Support the Product Management Team in setting up and managing research and development projects. This includes, but is not limited to, installations, data collection, monitoring, reporting, and presenting finding.

  • Support vendor-based activities to ensure quality products and equipment are available to Osmose crews and customers.

  • Assist manufacturers and OUS supply chain by coordinating packaging requirements of finished products and equipment.

  • Assist Operations and Operations Support personnel and management by providing technical support as required for overall profit center success.

  • Support the sales efforts of Business Development that result in healthy customer relationships. Develop a thorough understanding of our customers’ problems, and ultimately create the connection to our products and services.

  • Assist in creating marketing outreach collateral and programs targeted to specific market segments for specific products or services.

  • Participation in national technical societies, industry events and standards organizations is expected.

  • Develop and implement plans to improve individual professional performance and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Material Science or a related technical field from an accredited program.

  • Five years of professional experience is preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to speak clearly and confidently to customers. Must be able to write technical documents using proper style and grammar.

  • Demonstrates self-motivational qualities and sound character.

  • Willingness to travel overnight and work varied hours, sometimes in harsh weather conditions, to achieve desired results.
