Columbia Sportswear’s dynamic global supply chain consists of 4 distribution centers, 430 retail stores, 80 apparel factories and 20 footwear factories worldwide. As the Supply Planning Manager, you will oversee the Global Supply Planning team for the Columbia Brand. In this role, you will be responsible for the creation, communication and successful execution of Columbia’s seasonal and monthly finished goods capacity and supply requirement plans. As the Supply Planning Manager, you will be responsible for developing strategies to meet the unique business needs of each channel. These strategies include seasonal prebuild position, in season chase and others as driven by corporate initiatives. In this role, you will partner with demand partners at the regional and channel levels to develop unique delivery solutions, as well as ensure we are strong partners to our factories and suppliers. Success will enable timely supply execution and demand fulfilment for Columbia Sportswear and its affiliated Brands. You will also be expected to innovate and enable: supply chain agility, maximized on time delivery and Inventory maximization, and drive and manage the system and process improvements.


  • Lead and represen thet team in initiatives that further our supply chain strategic pillars, specifically: Supply Chain Agility, Relentless Execution, Drive Profitability, Innovative Capabilities, Supply Chain Analytics, and Inspired Talent.

  • Through a partnership with manufacturing determine capacity utilization goals for season. Create and lead strategies for achieving goals that consider systemic constraints.

  • Drive high levels of planning accuracy enabling and increasing risk analysis for finished goods. Gain alignment with manufacturing and demand stakeholders for highest resource use with tempered risk.

  • Determine, drive, and support process enhancements for Global Supply Planning and Materials Planning, including buy cycle time reduction, materials partnership, etc.

  • Determine, drive, and support system and process change for Global Supply Planning.

  • Lead analytics strategy and partner with Supply Chain Analytics to develop innovative tools and reporting insights into supply and materials planning across the company.

  • Collaborate with VP level Planning and Manufacturing partners as well as Sourcing and Regional leaders to establish supply planning metrics and strategies for the season. Communicate agreed upon metrics to global manufacturing and regional partners. Track and distribute metrics to Supply Planning and the greater organization. Work closely with Global Innovation – Metrics team to further develop accuracy and variance models.

  • Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management and all other internal departments and outside suppliers in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.

  • Strategize with Sourcing and Manufacturing partners each season to ensure mutual understanding of Supply Planning and Sourcing efforts and align where possible. Innovate on process and procedure.

  • Champion regional and brand engagement through differentiated processes, strategy communication, and action-based review of results.

  • Hire, coach, guide and lead manager direct reports. Provide managerial coaching for managing contributions and teams. Clarify individual and team goals and performance measures. Support development planning and team member motivation to maximize individual satisfaction and performance.


  • A strong communicator who can collaborate and influence others

  • Proactive and assertive in follow-through with colleagues and business partners

  • Able to understand and translate moderately technical concepts verbally and in writing

  • Able to prioritize tasks and respond to urgent requests/inquiries with minimal supervisory involvement while meeting deadlines


  • A Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience

  • 5-8 years professional experience, 5+ years management experience preferably in supply chain management or relevant technical / business skills required to accomplish the job. apparel/footwear industry experience desired.

  • A broad understanding of supply chain processes, procedures and internal structure and partners

  • Leadership and management skills

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
