The position being offered is for one new graduate RN to begin a nursing career in our ICU. This is a significant commitment that will consist of hands on training as well as educational/classroom components. Applications for this posting will be sent to the director/manager for review. All New to Practice Registered Nurses will be enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program partnership with the University of Iowa. The purpose of this one-year program is to ease the transition of newly graduated nurses into professional practice, aid in their socialization as fully functioning members of the health-care team, and help them to provide safe and comprehensive patient care. This program is intended for new graduate registered nurses within their first year of practice.
Performs a comprehensive patient assessment to identify patient and family needs.2. Develops and implements a comprehensive plan of care involving the patient and the family.3. Performs and documents direct patient and family centered care and patient education according to nursing standards of practice.4. Identifies and responds to patient conditions to achieve positive patient outcomes.5. Performs discharge planning to ensure safe and appropriate transition of care.6. Directs and delegates care provided by unlicensed team members. Provides world class customer service to patients and families.
Collaborate with the entire care team of the patient following evidence based practice protocols.
The graduate nurse provides assessment, care planning and direct delivery of treatment utilizing professional nursing care processes in a patient and family centered manner in accordance with licensure and regulatory scope and standards, and established hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
