Position Information

The incumbent will perform a variety of duties to help scientists and Ph.D. students involved in the research project. The incumbent will have the following responsibilities: Prepare lab equipment for upcoming research experiments; Collect soil and water samples in the greenhouse from plants and zero-run off irrigation system; Perform maintenance on the plant production growing systems; including watering plants and recording pH changes using a pH meter and any observable color changes in runoff water; Keeping detailed lab notes and attending meetings with collaborators, including graduate students performing other sample analyses; Use selective media to streak samples and record changes in microbial population number over time; Clean and maintain lab equipment; Gather data and information from plants; Monitor ongoing tests and experiments carried out in lab and greenhouse, noting any differences; Support the scientists in reporting data and compile the information into graphs and documents

Degree Requirement

Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge?s and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
