L3Harris in Rochester, NY is looking for an a Lead Manufacturing Engineer for our Assembly, Integration and Test area. The candidate would be responsible to to lead capital improvement projects for the operations facilities with cross functional teams including but not limited to facilities, design, mission assurance and contamination control. This position requires the ability and experience to streamline existing manufacturing and industrial setups, create and test new manufacturing processes to optimize production for process support of the AI&T manufacturing department. This engineer would be required to make on-site judgment calls about process and equipment capabilities, cycle time, assembly process and product specifications.
Abililty to propose and lead assembly capital and process improvement projects.
Provide engineering support for the improvements to support of a variety of mid to large-sized prototype and state-of-the-art opto-mechanical and electrical assemblies for internal Harris systems and external commercial customers.
Ability to Interface with and/or direct engineers, technicians, facilities and additional personnel.
Support design engineering, analysis, program management and IPT leads, process development, and proposal activities.
Ability to provide strong leadership to teams made up of engineers and technicians
Proof of strong problem-solving capability, people skills, and the ability to conduct presentations for management, technical experts, and customers.
Create and deliver presentations for Peer Reviews, Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, internal management reviews, and customer reviews.
This position is a direct report to the AI&T Manager.
Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have in-depth knowledge of project management.
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.Requires strong knowledge of job area typically obtained through hands-on experience as well as having a specialty within discipline.
Fluent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio), data analysis techniques and the use of other applicable software applications such as Matlab
Advanced understanding and application of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T)
May have broad knowledge of project management.
Willing to work overtime, shift work or extended shifts, as needed.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Master's Degree in specialty field related to assembly, integration and test
Direct experience with optical metrology and precision engineering.
Knowledge of statistical analysis and Design of Experiments.
