Aerotek Lab Technician-Histology in ROCKVILLE, Maryland
Position Summary The role builds practical knowledge and hands-on experience in histological processing of rodent tissues, with expertise in the brain and eye.
Essential Position Requirements Thin-slice sectioning of animal tissues using cryostat, freezing microtome, and vibratome Histological processing including basic staining (e.g. H&E), fluorescent immunohistochemistry (IHC) to asses protein expression, fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) to assess RNA expression, tissue mounting on glass slides with cover slipping Possibility to learn microscopy of prepared tissue samples including brightfield, fluorescent, and confocal imaging techniques; as well as subsequent quantitative analysis of images and conduct stereological counting Assist in lab management tasks, such as material inventory, ordering and equipment, making solutions, and general laboratory maintenance. Maintain impeccable records from raw data including data books and computer-generated data files and laboratory protocols

Degree and years of experience required? This to me is more like a lab tech – with a neuroscience focus. Ideal candidate would be right out of their Bachelors degree. Could eventually be temp to hire and that is what the manager wants.
