Army National Guard Units AIRCRAFT MECHANIC in Sacramento, California

Summary This AIRCRAFT MECHANIC position, is located in the Logistics function of an ARNG Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) and is part of the CA AASF Sacramento. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION. The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Priority Areas(s) of Consideration: Priority consideration is first given to the areas below. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Army CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: E-3 through E-6 or Enlisted Eligible Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Qualifications General Experience: Experience or training that has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; Skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12: Must have at least 18 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; experience instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damages engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
