Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise is looking to hire a Second Cook for our Food Service Department.

As a Second Cook you will prepare and cook a limited number of hot food items for patients and serve portions of hot food on patient tray assembly lines. Second Cooks must possess a high level of Nutrition Therapy competency and be able to achieve the highest level outcomes with minimal supervision.

About Saint Alphonsus Food Service: Our patient menus feature a variety of options all prepared in house on a made-to-order basis using the highest quality products available, including fresh, locally sourced (in season) fruits and vegetables, quality proteins, and fresh baked goods. In addition to the above listed services a full array of specialty drinks including espressos, blended coffee drinks, smoothies, gourmet teas, and snack items are available at the Garrity Clinic Bistro in Nampa, as well as at Solid Grounds and Solid Grounds 2 coffee bars at Saint Alphonsus- Boise.

About this Position: As a Second Cook you will be prepping, cooking, and serving a variety of dishes all under the supervision of an Executive Chef.

General Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills to perform the required cooking methods (e.g., baking, broiling, roasting, steaming, frying) equivalent to two years of experience of institutional cooking.

  • Four years of experience in restaurant/institutional cooking preferred.

  • Six months of hospital cooking required and must be able to pass department sponsored Diet Therapy test.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
