Description:

The Anesthesia Technician personnel are responsible for stocking and replacing all items used in the operating room and other anesthetizing sites for the anesthetized patient. They are also responsible for cleaning and maintaining all appropriate equipment pertaining to the Anesthesia Department. The Anesthesia Tech personnel assist the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and Anesthesiologists in preparation of anesthetizing locations.

Performance Duties:

  • Maintains general order of the unit.

  • Organizes and stores all supplies and equipment utilized for anesthetic administration.

  • Provides for cleaning, restocking and replacing of equipment in the clinical environment, which includes but is not limited to the: Operating Rooms, Endoscopy Suite, Special X-ray procedures and OB.

  • Maintains all equipment in accordance with Hospital Infection Control standards, CDC guidelines and other pertinent regulations.

  • Assists in maintaining appropriate supply levels in the clinical environment including Operating Rooms, Endoscopy Suite, OB unit, and special xray procedures cart.

  • Assist in transporting patients if necessary.

  • Works as a team member with the entire peri-operative team under the direction of anesthesiologists and Certified Nurse Anesthetists.

  • Prioritizes activities based on patient care needs and Operating Room schedule.

  • Provides update for expected or unexpected delays in service..

  • Maintains compliance with all mandatory competencies and employee health requirements by due dates.

Communication:

  • Answers the beeper or wireless phone in timely manner using appropriate telephone etiquette..

  • Communicates with Peri-operative, Anesthesia, and OB personnel to determine equipment to support patient care..

Demands:

  • Good physical and mental health.

  • Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments/equipment.

  • Visual and aural acuity.

  • Turning, stooping, bending, stretching, lifting. Lifting requires the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently and 10 lbs. constantly to move objects.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent

Training and Experience:

  • Work related experience (preferred)

  • Basic math skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to follow through with task completion when interrupted.
