Sr. Financial Analyst, Cloud Services Business Unit

LOCATION: This position is open for West Coast remote working flexibility; within the Pacific (PDT) time zone.

Job Description

The VMC Finance team is looking for a Senior Finance Analyst to bring visibility, governance and best practices to one of the fastest growing businesses in VMware.

As an integral member of the Finance and business leadership teams, this position’s overarching responsibilities are to provide financial information and analysis that is relevant, trusted, and insightful, which enables the executive leadership teams to make effective decisions that improve the Company’s performance. Strong focus on continual enhancement of the quality, efficiency, and scale of financial information produced, through process improvements, financial tools, and automation.


  • Trusted finance business partner to the Engineering, Operations, Product Management teams. Collaborate with the business to bring visibility, strong governance and develop best practices to our expanding public cloud footprint.

  • Thought leader driving analytical and strategic frameworks and modeling to support long-term planning, and KPIs for enhanced business monitoring & future growth visibility

  • Strong communicator, collaborating on business performance reviews with business leaders to create effective strategies and operating plans, with focus on execution. Strength in succinctly explaining business impact to VMware Executives and influencing across cross-functional teams.

  • Play an integral role as a subject matter expert to the greater Finance and Accounting organization with all things related to Capacity Planning for the VMC on AWS business.

  • Enable the business to develop capacity products by reducing friction while maintaining a balanced framework of economic guardrails and risk mitigation

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with public cloud business models, pricing frameworks

  • Strong understanding of supply chain, capacity and demand planning

  • Experience working in an enterprise software, SaaS, or other hi-tech company


  • Minimum 4 years experience in financial planning and analysis, experience related to software development & sales organizations preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; an MBA is preferred

  • Expertise and proficiency in building financial and decision support models

  • Strict attention to detail and intensity around producing high-quality product

  • Strong initiative and desire to work in a team-oriented environment including remote collaboration

  • Capable of independently managing multiple tasks in a highly deadline-driven environment with a high level of precision, and remaining composed under pressure

  • Dedication to work required hours during planning cycle to ensure deadlines are met with high-quality work

  • Excellent English (written and verbal) communication skills
