Position Overview:

The Wire Harness Specialist will conceptualize, manage the design, development, testing, technical documentation, and launch of new products and extensions to existing product lines.

In this function you will:

  • Drive and participate in requirements evaluation, design reviews and other team development processes.

  • Develop and maintain cable/wire harness detail assembly designs according to Eaton and automotive standards

  • Manage the review of product requirements specification based on input from customer OEMs.

  • Conduct testing of all new products in accordance with Eaton standards and customer requirements.

  • Review and conduct computer-based FEA analysis on new products

  • Manage wire harness suppliers and ensure the release and delivery of components that meet defined specifications.

  • Lead the conduction of wire harness root cause analysis on all wire harness related failures and brainstorm and implement countermeasures.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in new product development of electronic packaging/busbar design/wiring harness design

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of Southfield, MI. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Experience with industry specifications IPC/WHMA-A-620, SAE AS22759, J-STD-001 Mil-PRF-31032, IPC-6013, IPC-2221, or IPC-2223

  • Expertise in wire harness packaging and mounting issues

  • Ability to utilize specialized techniques for development to launch process improvements including development stage gate processes and Design for Six Sigma tools

  • Experience creating and using DFMEA, DRBFM and 8D in the development process

  • Experience in injection molded plastics design

  • GD&T experience

  • Experience with EMI/EMC designs

  • Experience within passenger car markets and the environmental requirements and related qualification testing required

  • Experience designing harnesses with Solid Works, ProE, NX, Unigraphix, CATIA

  • Experience with wire harness simulation software

  • Experience with DFx practices: Manufacturing, Test, Repair, Quality

Position Criteria:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% internationally and domestically
