Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM GBS IBM Automation service line is a team of industry experienced, strategy, business, and technology consultants who collaborate with our clients to co-create a cognitive automation agenda for their businesses. This is a growing practice and the leaders and consultants on this team are the architects of AI and robotic automation for our clients. Our Cognitive Process Automation practice is looking for an Automation Consultant who has knowledge of process mapping and business process automation within an industry context. Role level will be dependent on depth of industry knowledge and ability to demonstrate how you have used that knowledge to deliver measurable outcomes for an organisation. You will analyse business processes and workflows with the objective of finding out how they can be improved and automated, contribute to the automation roadmap and strategy for our customers.

As an Advisory Consultant you must be able to see the big picture, understand project objectives and be able to apply their understanding of how processes should work to operational improvement initiatives including how various automation capabilities can be used to gain productivity improvements, risk and compliance advantages and customer and employee experience improvements.

Other activities as an Advisory Consultant you may get involved in include:

  • Managing process change

  • Leading process automation workshops

  • Educating business users responsible for managing and operating business and operational processes

  • Facilitating process workshops that involve eliciting process requirements and liaising with users

  • You will have a strong analytical background, be a proven problem solver and have excellent documentation and communication skills.

-A proven ability to run workshops and meetings with different stakeholder groups is also required.

-Experience in process analysis & design for Cognitive Process Automation (RPA, OCR, NLP, intelligent workflow, etc) is preferable

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Operating as a team member, drawing upon the experience of other professionals within the engagement team and from other functions.

  • Utilizing Automation Playbook and Industry Frameworks to evaluate a business process and identify automation opportunities.

  • Development of client specific points of view

  • Facilitating workshops based on design thinking principles

  • Documentation of processes, features, sprint backlogs

  • Contributing to the definition of the engagement scope of work and outputs.

  • Maintain high client satisfaction by exceeding expectations and delivery excellence; build strong delivery teams with predictable performance; develop lasting relationships based on mutual respect of their capabilities

  • Recognizing risks and issues related to the engagement objectives and suggesting solutions.

  • Reflect IBM’s core values every day, in all interactions –internal and external

Your Technical and Professional Experience will include:

  • Process mapping and process redesign experience

  • Proficiency in automation capabilities and value levers

  • Involvement in at least 2 process redesign engagements that have led to automation in some form (BPM, ODM, Robotics, Chat Bot, etc)

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively – verbal and written

  • Superior powerpoint capabilities

  • Experience with process modelling tools

  • Willing and able to travel as required

  • Deep Relationship Propensity - Worked with Client in a consulting/relationship-driven behaviour

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience Will Include:

  • Experience in Lean process design techniques

  • Experience in process analysis & design for Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

  • Experience in Java, Business Rules Engine (Drool, etc) and BPM

  • Familiarity with design thinking

  • Experience in process change management

  • UiPath, Automation Anywhere or BluePrism accreditation

  • Awareness of Enterprise Case Management and/or Business Process Management technologies and capabilities

Mandatory requirements:

  • Must have self-drive to lead initiatives and multitask

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Permanent residency to live and work in Australia
