Boys & Girls Clubs of America 1- Gang Prevention Through Targeted Outreach Coordinator in United States

The Gang Prevention Through Targeted Outreach (GPTTO) Coordinator is responsible for creating a sustainable gang prevention effort that strategically reaches out to potential gang members, ages 6-18, and provides them with youth development experiences. Through outreach and referral, this role will recruit new Club members on the brink of gang involvement and will monitor and document individual progress through individualized case management.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Directs/oversees all aspects of the GPTTO approach

  • Interviews community agencies and individuals who have a local perspective on delinquency issues, including youth, to fully understand community needs to develop action strategies for a customized approach

  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations (i.e. police department, juvenile justice system, school district and schools, community-based organizations, city and county officials, business community, youth, parents/guardians)

  • Contributes to the overall Club’s climate for youth development

  • Responsible for compiling monthly reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation through case management system

  • Provides guidance services

  • Conducts regular staff meetings with case management staff to complete forms

  • Ensures staff receive necessary training on this program and case management

  • Complete intake assessment on all targeted youth

  • Coordinate monthly gathering of school, juvenile justice involvement, family and Club program information

  • Manages operations within approved budget

  • Completes all necessary paperwork for grant requirements

  • Develops and maintains friendly and cooperative relationships with public, civic groups, and social agencies within the community, acts as liaison between member/parent/referring agency/schools

  • Represents the organization and communicates its objectives, standards, and programs with emphasis on GPTTO; promotes and stimulates membership within the unit

  • Manages necessary administrative functions and assigned resources

  • Refers children to appropriate agencies to deal with individual needs

  • Case manage children to develop a relationship to meet the needs and interests of the youth

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have any direct reports but may utilize program staff to complete required forms.



  • Four year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of five years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization with planning and supervising activities based on the development needs of young people, or equivalent experience

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written, and presentation

  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred

  • Ability to deal effectively with members including disciplinary action

  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management

  • Demonstrated ability in building relationships and working with young people, parents and community leaders

  • Ability to travel within region

  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally for training

  • Ability to work evenings & weekends, if needed

  • Mandatory Public Service License

  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications

  • Bilingual a plus.

    Pay Rate - $18- $20/hr
